SUBJECTS Language Arts, Science, Social Studies
GRADE LEVEL Primary (K-3) / Junior (4-6) / Intermediate (7-8) / Senior (9-12)
PLEDGE 1 - Protection of water

Resources Needed:

  1. Tip Tank Online Game
  2. Chart paper (optional)

Introduction:

Excellent as a quick warm up activity!

Tell students they’re going to play a matching game that reveals water saving tips each time they make a match.

Lesson:

  1. Project the game for the class and have students take turns making matches.
  2. When a match is made, read out and record the new water tip. These can be collected on chart paper (or in individual student journals) as a running list that is added to each time the game is played.
  3. Discussion Questions:
    1. Which tips were the most interesting to you?
    2. Which tips surprised you?
    3. Were there any tips that may influence you to make positive changes?
    4. Which tip would you find to be the easiest to do? Which one would be the most challenging?

Follow Up Activities:

  1. Have each student choose a water saving tip from the list and create a poster. Display posters for other classes to see.
  2. Early finishers can play independently or in small groups as a centre.
